Emberfall Saga

Emberfall Saga is a full RPG that somehow fits comfortably on a phone. You build a party of four, wander a hand-drawn continent, and settle fights in turn-based battles that reward setting up combos over one round.

The writing caught us off guard. The main quest is standard fantasy, but the side characters have small, quiet arcs that made us actually read the dialogue instead of tapping through it. Combat stays interesting because enemy types force you to shuffle your line-up.

It asks for a bit of grinding around the midgame, which is our one complaint. But the auto-battle option handles the boring stretches, and the boss fights are worth the climb.
